English follows Japanese. 9月9日は #重陽の節句 。前夜に、菊の花を真綿でおおって香と夜露をうつしとり、翌朝にその真綿で顔や体をぬぐうことで邪気を払い、不老長寿を願うという風習。
今日の和菓子は、日本全国の和菓子屋さんにならぶ「 #着せ綿 」の #練り切り。受け継がれてきた、四季折々の意匠に出会えるのも、和菓子の魅力です。

September 9th is Chou-you-no-Sekku (chrysanthemum festival). The night before the festival, chrysanthemum flowers are covered with cotton to absorb the fragrance and night dew, and the next morning, , people purified their bodies with the cotton, hoping for a good health and long life. Today’s wagashi is a “kise-wata,” which can be found in wagashi shops all over Japan on September 9th. One of the charm of wagashi is that you can see the designs of the four seasons, being passed down from generation to generation. We wish you a healthy life and good luck in the coming days.
