English follows Japanese. 九月九日は五節句のひとつ、重陽の節句です。陰陽説では奇数は縁起のよい数字、そして最大の数「九」の重なる今日は、たいへんめでたい日とされています。また重陽の節句の日には菊の花を用いることから「菊の節句」とも言われています。菊は長寿をもたらすめでたい花、強い香りで邪気を払う高貴な花と考えられているとか。菊の花を浸した菊酒を飲んで不老長寿を願う風習もあったそうです。
今年は、金糸皇菊（きんいとこうきく）の花びらをボタニカルジンの琥珀糖にとじこめたお茶会用のお菓子を作らせていただきました。そして、菊の花の練り切り、菊酒もつくりました。みなさまの無病息災を願って。
September 9 is Chou-you-no-Sekku. According to the Yin-Yang theory, odd numbers are auspicious, September 9, with the largest number "nine," is considered a very auspicious day. Chrysanthemum flowers are used on Chou-you-no-Sekku, which is also called "Chrysanthemum Festival. Chrysanthemums are thought to be a flower of great joy that brings long life and a noble flower with a strong fragrance that wards off evil spirits. There was also a custom to drink chrysanthemum sake soaked with chrysanthemum flowers to wish for longevity and immortality.
For the tea ceremony, I made a custom made of Kohakutou jelly candy with dried chrysanthemum flower petals. Also made chrysanthemum flower design of Nerikiri and chrysanthemum sake. Wishing you all good health and happiness.
