Fu Manju

  • Fu-manju

    "Fu-manju" sweets for Wagashi lesson in Summer. Emperor Meiji loved "Fu" (a breadlike food made of wheat gluten) and he requested wrap "An" paste inside of "Fu" cake. This is the birth of "Fu-manju". Cafe au lait and "Fu-manju" were the emperor's breakfast. A fun part of making Wagashi sweets is knowing and experiencing its history.
