Claude Monet, the French Impressionist painter, was a master at delicately capturing the play of light and the transition of seasons. His Water Lilies, in particular, are a masterpiece that almost everyone has encountered at some point.
-----
In his paintings of water lilies, not only the flowers and leaves but also the surrounding plants like weeping willows are reflected like mirrors. At times, even the scenes beneath the water's surface are portrayed, capturing the light and water as he saw them in that moment.
-----
Monet constructed a water lily pond in the garden of his home in Giverny, where he created over 200 pieces in the Water Lilies series. Around this pond, an abundance of Japanese plants such as weeping willows, water lilies, irises, bamboo, and peonies were planted. There are records indicating that he received bulbs from Japan. Monet held a strong interest in Japanese art, amassing a collection of ukiyo-e prints, and this influence is said to be evident in his Water Lilies pond.

Kohakutou - Water Lily - was inspired by Monet's artwork "Agapanthus" housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art. Agapanthus, which blooms from the rainy season into summer, is known for its striking blue-purple and cool white flowers. Its slender, elongated stems bear numerous small flowers, exuding an elegance and distinctive presence.
